Pickyroo

Privacy policy

Last updated: 10 August 2026. Pickyroo is operated from Ireland.

The short version: Pickyroo has no accounts, no database and no server-side code. The names you type stay in your own browser. The only third party involved is Google, who serve the adverts that pay for the site, and they set cookies as described below.

What is stored on your device

The site uses your browser's local storage — not cookies — to remember a few things between visits:

This information never leaves your device. It is not transmitted to us or to anyone else, because there is nowhere for it to be transmitted to. You can delete all of it at any time by clearing site data for pickyroo.com in your browser settings, and the results history has its own Clear history button.

Share links

The 🔗 Share button creates a link containing your list, encoded after the # in the URL. By design, browsers never send the part of a URL after the # to a web server, so that list is not received or logged by us or by our hosting provider. It travels only to whoever you send the link to. Bear in mind that if you post such a link somewhere public, the names in it are public too.

What we do not collect

Hosting

The site is served as static files by a hosting provider, which — like every web server — processes standard request information such as your IP address, the page requested and your browser's user-agent string in order to deliver the page and to protect against abuse. These are ordinary server logs, kept briefly by the host and not used by us to build any profile of you.

Advertising

Pickyroo is funded by adverts served by Google AdSense.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you will be shown a consent message before personalised advertising cookies are set, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time from the link in that message. Where consent is refused, Google serves non-personalised adverts, which still use a cookie for frequency capping and fraud prevention but do not build an advertising profile.

Children

Pickyroo is a general-audience site and is commonly used in classrooms. It does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, of any age. Where the site is used by children, advertising is subject to Google's policies on child-directed treatment.

Your rights

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability in relation to personal data held about you. Because this site holds no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to give you a copy of or to delete — the data lives in your browser and is under your control. For data held by Google in connection with advertising, see Google's own privacy policy and controls, linked above.

If you believe your data protection rights have been infringed, you may lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie), or with the supervisory authority in the country where you live.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will be flagged on the site.
